How Baralgan Nu works

Baralgan NU Tablet is a combination of two medicines: dicyclomine and paracetamol, which help relieve abdominal pain and cramps. Dicyclomine is an anticholinergic that relaxes the muscles in the stomach and intestines. It stops sudden muscle contractions (spasms), thereby relieving cramps, pain, bloating, and discomfort. Paracetamol is an analgesic (pain reliever) that works by blocking the release of certain chemical messengers responsible for pain.

How to take Baralgan Nu

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Baralgan NU Tablet may be taken with or without food.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of Baralgan NU Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause a racing heart, confusion, blurred vision and difficulty passing urine. It can cause severe and sometimes fatal liver damage, often with no symptoms at all for the first day. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Most side effects of Baralgan Nu are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

If you drink alcohol regularly, or have liver disease, ask your doctor what daily limit is safe for you. See a doctor if fever lasts more than three days, or pain more than five.

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for people with glaucoma, urinary retention, or a blockage of the gut. Not for people with severe liver disease, except under medical supervision.

Interactions with other medicines

Adds to the dry mouth, constipation and drowsiness caused by antihistamines and some antidepressants. Regular alcohol use increases the risk of liver injury. Tell your doctor if you are on warfarin — regular high-dose paracetamol can affect it.

Store below 30°C in the original pack, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.
