Prescription steroid: use only under medical advice. Do not stop abruptly (risk of adrenal suppression). Long-term/high-dose use may cause osteoporosis, cataract/glaucoma, infections, stomach ulcer/bleeding, mood changes, and growth suppression in children. Use caution in diabetes, hypertension, peptic ulcer disease, glaucoma, osteoporosis, liver disease, thyroid disorders and in elderly. Avoid exposure to infections (e.g., chickenpox/measles); seek medical help if exposed. Live vaccines generally should be avoided during immunosuppressive doses.
