Brimonidine Tartrate 0.2% w/v (as Brimonidine) ophthalmic solution
Used to lower raised intraocular pressure in open-angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension
Brimonidine is an alpha-2 adrenergic agonist. It reduces aqueous humour production and increases uveoscleral outflow, thereby lowering intraocular pressure.
For ophthalmic use only. Instil 1 drop in the affected eye(s) usually 2-3 times daily as prescribed. Wash hands before use, avoid touching dropper tip, and wait 5-10 minutes before using other eye drops. Remove contact lenses before instillation and reinsert after 15 minutes unless advised otherwise.
Common side effects of BETABRIM EYE DROPS 5ML may include:
Do not use if allergic to brimonidine. Use with caution in patients with severe cardiovascular disease, orthostatic hypotension, depression, Raynaud’s phenomenon, thromboangiitis obliterans, or reduced cerebral/coronary circulation. May cause drowsiness/fatigue—avoid driving if affected. Not recommended in infants/young children due to risk of CNS depression. Avoid contamination of the dropper; discard if solution changes colour or becomes cloudy. Use in narrow-angle glaucoma only under specialist advice.
