Biopride 2 mg Tablet contains Glimepiride 2 mg. It belongs to the Sulfonylurea (second generation) class of medicines.

How Biopride 2 mg Tablet works

Glimepiride is a sulfonylurea that stimulates the pancreas to release insulin. It also helps the body use insulin more effectively, thereby lowering blood glucose levels.

How to take Biopride 2 mg Tablet

Oral tablet. Take exactly as prescribed, usually once daily with breakfast or the first main meal. Swallow with water; do not skip meals after taking it; monitor blood glucose regularly.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.

Warnings and precautions

Not for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. Inform doctor if you have G6PD deficiency (risk of hemolysis). Seek help for severe allergy, yellowing of eyes/skin, or persistent low sugars. Driving/operating machinery may be affected during hypoglycaemia.

Do not take Biopride if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for type 1 diabetes or for diabetic ketoacidosis. Not for people with severe kidney or liver disease.

Interactions with other medicines

Alcohol (increases hypoglycaemia risk), insulin/other antidiabetics (additive effect), beta-blockers (mask hypoglycaemia symptoms), fluconazole/miconazole (increase effect), rifampicin (reduce effect), corticosteroids and thiazide diuretics (raise glucose), NSAIDs/salicylates (may increase hypoglycaemia), warfarin (may alter anticoagulant effect)

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from moisture and direct light. Keep out of reach of children.
