Glimepiride 2 mg
Type 2 diabetes mellitus (adult) to help control blood sugar, usually when diet and exercise alone are not enough; may be used alone or with other antidiabetic medicines as prescribed.
Glimepiride is a sulfonylurea that stimulates the pancreas to release insulin. It also helps the body use insulin more effectively, thereby lowering blood glucose levels.
Oral tablet. Take exactly as prescribed, usually once daily with breakfast or the first main meal. Swallow with water; do not skip meals after taking it; monitor blood glucose regularly.
Common side effects of BIOPRIDE 2MG TAB may include:
Risk of hypoglycaemia—higher with missed meals, alcohol, heavy exercise, elderly, liver/kidney impairment. Use with caution in hepatic/renal disease; dose adjustment may be needed. Not for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. Inform doctor if you have G6PD deficiency (risk of hemolysis). Seek help for severe allergy, yellowing of eyes/skin, or persistent low sugars. Driving/operating machinery may be affected during hypoglycaemia.
