Budetrol 100 Inhaler contains Formoterol (6mcg) + Budesonide (200mcg). It belongs to the Inhaled corticosteroid (Glucocorticoid) class of medicines.

Maintenance (preventive) treatment of asthma; control of airway inflammation and prevention of wheeze/shortness of breath. Also used as controller therapy in chronic respiratory inflammatory conditions as prescribed.

How Budetrol 100 Inhaler works

Budesonide is an inhaled corticosteroid that reduces inflammation, swelling and mucus production in the airways. This helps decrease airway hyper-responsiveness and prevents asthma symptoms and exacerbations when used regularly.

How to take Budetrol 100 Inhaler

For inhalation use only. Use exactly as prescribed; typically used regularly (once or twice daily) for maintenance, not for sudden attacks. Rinse mouth/gargle with water after each use to reduce risk of oral thrush. If using a bronchodilator inhaler as well, generally take the bronchodilator first and budesonide after a few minutes; use a spacer if advised.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of BUDEtrol 200 Inhaler, use it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause a racing heart, marked tremor, headache and a fall in blood potassium. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Side effects of Budetrol 100 Inhaler

Most side effects of Budetrol are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

• Throat irritation

• cough
• oral thrush (candidiasis)
• dry mouth
• headache
• nausea

Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Warnings and precautions

Not for immediate relief of acute asthma attack—keep a rescue inhaler (e.g., salbutamol) available. Use with caution in untreated infections (TB, fungal/viral/bacterial), glaucoma/cataract, osteoporosis, liver disease, and in children (may affect growth with long-term use). Do not stop abruptly without medical advice. Seek care if breathing worsens after use (paradoxical bronchospasm) or if frequent rescue inhaler use is needed.

Interactions with other medicines

Strong CYP3A4 inhibitors may increase systemic steroid exposure (e.g., ketoconazole, itraconazole, voriconazole, ritonavir/cobicistat, clarithromycin). Other corticosteroids (additive effects). Live vaccines/immunosuppressants: increased infection risk with high doses.

Store below 30°C, protect from direct heat and sunlight. Keep dry and away from moisture. Keep out of reach of children; do not puncture/throw into fire.

It contains two medicines in one inhaler for control of long term asthma and COPD symptoms. It does not relieve sudden symptoms. Always use a rescue inhaler to treat sudden symptoms. Tell your doctor immediately if your breathing problem worsens, or if rescue inhaler does not relieve symptoms. Do not discontinue unless advised by your doctor. Rinse your mouth with water after each use to prevent infections in the mouth and throat. Carry your rescue inhaler wherever you go.
