Cefdinir 200 mg
Treatment of susceptible bacterial infections such as respiratory tract infections (pharyngitis/tonsillitis, sinusitis, acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis), community-acquired pneumonia, otitis media, and uncomplicated skin/soft tissue infections.
Cefdinir is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic. It inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins, leading to cell lysis and death of susceptible bacteria.
Take as prescribed by a doctor. Usually taken orally with or without food; take at the same time each day and complete the full course even if you feel better. If you are using antacids or iron supplements, separate dosing (they can reduce absorption).
Common side effects of CEFIDYN 200MG may include:
Use only for bacterial infections; not effective for viral illnesses. Do not use if allergic to cefdinir/cephalosporins; use caution with penicillin allergy. Dose adjustment may be needed in kidney disease. Antibiotic-associated diarrhoea (including C. difficile) can occur—seek medical help for severe/persistent diarrhoea. Use with caution in history of colitis. May cause reddish stools when taken with iron.
