Cefpodoxime proxetil 200 mg + Clavulanic acid 125 mg (as potassium clavulanate)
Bacterial infections such as respiratory tract infections (sinusitis, tonsillitis/pharyngitis, bronchitis, pneumonia), ear infections (otitis media), urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and other susceptible infections as prescribed.
Cefpodoxime is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to bacterial death. Clavulanic acid is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that protects cefpodoxime from degradation by beta-lactamase producing bacteria, improving coverage against resistant organisms.
Tablet; take exactly as prescribed. Usually taken with food to improve absorption and reduce stomach upset. Swallow whole with water; do not crush/chew unless advised. Complete the full course even if you feel better.

Prescription-only antibiotic; use only for bacterial infections. Do not use if allergic to cephalosporins, penicillins, or beta-lactam antibiotics; seek urgent help for signs of anaphylaxis. Use with caution in kidney disease (dose adjustment may be needed) and in patients with history of colitis; stop and consult doctor if severe/persistent diarrhoea occurs (risk of C. difficile). Monitor for liver-related symptoms (jaundice, dark urine). May reduce effectiveness of oral typhoid vaccine. Not for self-medication; misuse can cause resistance.
