How Change Tablet works

Change Tablet is a combination of two antibiotics: Ofloxacin and Ornidazole. Ofloxacin works by preventing the bacterial cells from dividing and repairing, thereby killing the bacteria. Ornidazole kills parasites and anaerobic bacteria that cause infections by damaging their DNA. Together, they treat your infection effectively.

How to take Change Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Change Tablet should be taken with or after food.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of Change Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause kidney injury, fits and heart rhythm disturbance. It can cause vomiting, severe loose motions and nerve symptoms. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Most side effects of Change are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

Warnings and precautions

Stop and contact your doctor at once if you develop pain, swelling or tenderness in a tendon — the Achilles tendon at the back of the ankle in particular. This group can damage tendons, and the risk is higher in older people and with steroids. Report any new numbness, tingling or burning in the hands or feet promptly. Tell your doctor about any change in mood, confusion or agitation. Avoid strong sunlight and use sun protection — this group makes the skin burn more easily. Finish the whole course; this group is heavily associated with antibiotic resistance and should be used only when prescribed. Finish the whole course even after you feel better. Do not drink any alcohol while taking metronidazole, ornidazole or tinidazole, or for the period after the course that your doctor states — the combination causes severe flushing, vomiting and a racing heart. Report severe or watery loose motions during or after the course rather than treating them yourself. Tetracyclines stain developing teeth and are avoided in young children and in pregnancy. Antibiotics do not work against colds, flu or most sore throats, which are caused by viruses.

Do not take Change if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Generally avoided in children and adolescents, in pregnancy, and in anyone with a history of tendon problems with these antibiotics.

Interactions with other medicines

Antacids, iron, zinc, calcium and milk markedly reduce absorption — separate them by at least two hours. Tell your doctor if you take steroids, a blood thinner or a medicine for heart rhythm. Antacids, iron, zinc and calcium reduce the absorption of tetracyclines — separate them by a couple of hours. Tell your doctor if you take a blood thinner.

How to store Change Tablet

Store below 30°C in the original pack, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.

Complete the full course of Change Tablet exactly as advised, even if you start feeling better. Take Change Tablet with water and maintain adequate hydration, especially if diarrhea is present. Avoid alcohol while taking Change Tablet and for some time after completing the course, as it may cause severe reactions and worsen side effects. Avoid taking antacids or mineral supplements close to the dose of Change Tablet unless advised by your doctor, as they may reduce its absorption. Seek medical advice if you develop severe diarrhea, bloody stools, or high fever. Stop taking Change Tablet and seek medical help if you develop rash, swelling, breathing difficulty, or signs of allergic reaction. Inform your doctor if you have kidney disease, seizures, or heart rhythm problems before taking Change Tablet. Report symptoms such as tendon pain, numbness, tingling, palpitations, or severe dizziness promptly. Consult your doctor if symptoms do not improve within 2–3 days of starting Change Tablet. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding before taking Change Tablet.
