How Donep-M Plus Tablet works

Donep-M Plus Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Donepezil and Memantine which treat Alzheimer’s disease. Donepezil is a cholinesterase inhibitor while Memantine is an NMDA inhibitor. Together, they balance the levels of chemical messengers in the brain and help in the transmission of nerve signals.

How to take Donep-M Plus Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Donep-M Plus Tablet may be taken with or without food.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of Donep-M Plus Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause severe confusion, abnormal movements, a very slow pulse and collapse. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Most side effects of Donep-M Plus are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

Warnings and precautions

Never stop a Parkinson's medicine suddenly — this can cause a severe and dangerous deterioration. Dose timing matters a great deal in Parkinson's disease. Take it at exactly the times prescribed. Report sudden daytime sleep attacks, hallucinations, or new gambling, spending or other impulsive behaviour — these are recognised effects and the dose may need review. Rise slowly from sitting or lying; a drop in blood pressure on standing is common.

Do not take Donep-M Plus if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Your doctor will assess suitability if you have heart, eye or psychiatric conditions.

Interactions with other medicines

Anti-emetics such as metoclopramide and some antipsychotics can worsen Parkinson's symptoms. High-protein meals can reduce the absorption of levodopa — ask your doctor about timing.

Store below 30°C in the original pack, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.

Donep-M Plus Tablet is used for the symptomatic treatment of alzheimer's disease. It does not cure alzheimer's, but may help with brain function and doing daily activities. Monitor your body weight regularly as both Donep-M Plus Tablet and alzheimer's disease can cause weight loss. Don't drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how it affects you. Inform your doctor if you have a history of seizures as it may raise the chances of seizure if you had them in the past. It may cause stomach ulcers, specially if you are also taking medications for inflammation or pain. Talk to your doctor if you vomit blood or have black colored stools.
