Euglif 10 mg Tablet contains Empagliflozin 10 mg. It belongs to the SGLT2 inhibitor (sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 inhibitor) class of medicines.

Uses of Euglif 10 mg Tablet

Management of type 2 diabetes mellitus as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycaemic control; may also be used in eligible patients to reduce risk of cardiovascular events and to help in heart failure/chronic kidney disease as per physician advice.

How Euglif 10 mg Tablet works

Empagliflozin is an SGLT2 inhibitor that reduces glucose reabsorption in the kidneys. It increases urinary glucose excretion, thereby lowering blood sugar and also causes mild diuresis which can help reduce blood pressure and fluid overload in some patients.

How to take Euglif 10 mg Tablet

Oral tablet. Usually taken once daily, with or without food, preferably at the same time each day. Dose and duration as prescribed; maintain hydration and follow diet/exercise advice. If a dose is missed, take it when remembered unless it is near the next dose—do not double dose.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause dehydration and a fall in blood pressure. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Side effects of Euglif 10 mg Tablet

Most side effects of Euglif are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

• thirst
• genital fungal infection (vaginal/penile)
• urinary tract infection
• dizziness
• dehydration
• low blood pressure
• nausea

Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Warnings and precautions

Not for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. Risk of genital mycotic infections, UTIs, dehydration/low BP (higher risk in elderly, on diuretics, low fluid intake), and rare ketoacidosis (can occur with normal sugars; seek care for nausea/vomiting/abdominal pain, breathlessness). Monitor kidney function; effectiveness reduces with severe renal impairment—use only as advised. Temporarily stop during major surgery/serious illness or prolonged fasting as directed. Use caution in patients with recurrent infections or peripheral vascular disease; watch for symptoms of volume depletion.

Do not take Euglif if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for type 1 diabetes or for diabetic ketoacidosis. Not for people with severe kidney disease.

Interactions with other medicines

Diuretics (increased dehydration/low BP), insulin and sulfonylureas (increased hypoglycaemia risk—may need dose reduction), antihypertensives (additive BP lowering), lithium (levels may change), alcohol (may increase dehydration/ketoacidosis risk)

Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
