How Fruselac Tablet works

Fruselac Tablet contains two medicines: furosemide and spironolactone, which act on different parts of the kidney to remove excess fluid. Furosemide is a short-acting loop diuretic that helps the kidneys eliminate sodium, chloride, and water through urine, thereby reducing fluid overload and blood pressure. Spironolactone is a long-acting aldosterone antagonist that promotes the excretion of sodium and water while conserving potassium, helping maintain electrolyte balance and preventing potassium loss during treatment.

How to take Fruselac Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Fruselac Tablet should be taken with or after food. Avoid Fruselac Tablet with dietary sodium.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of Fruselac Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause severe dehydration, a sharp fall in blood pressure and dangerous salt imbalances. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Report muscle cramps, marked weakness, confusion or an irregular heartbeat; these can be signs your potassium or sodium has fallen. In hot weather or during an illness with vomiting or loose motions, tell your doctor — you may become dehydrated quickly. This water tablet KEEPS potassium rather than losing it. Do not take potassium supplements or potassium-based salt substitutes with it unless your doctor has specifically told you to. Report muscle weakness, numbness or an irregular heartbeat — these can be signs potassium has risen too high. Breast tenderness or enlargement can occur in men; tell your doctor if it troubles you.

Do not take Fruselac if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for people who are unable to pass urine, or who are severely dehydrated.

Interactions with other medicines

Anti-inflammatory painkillers blunt the effect and can strain the kidneys. Lithium and digoxin levels are affected; tell your doctor if you take either. Potassium-sparing types must not be combined with potassium supplements without supervision.

It may cause excessive urine production, dehydration, and low electrolyte levels. Notify your doctor if you experience dizziness, tiredness, or muscle weakness that doesn't go away. Your doctor may regularly monitor your blood pressure, kidney function, and the level of salts such as potassium and sodium in your blood while you're taking this medication.
