How Gavisgene Syrup works
Gavisgene Suspension Peppermint Sugar Free is a combination of three medications: Calcium carbonate, sodium alginate, and sodium bicarbonate. Calcium carbonate and sodium bicarbonate react with stomach acid, releasing bubbles of carbon dioxide. These bubbles allow the gel to form a strong protective barrier on top of the stomach contents, thereby preventing stomach acid from flowing back into the esophagus. Additionally, sodium bicarbonate dissolves quickly and neutralizes the stomach acid, exerting a rapid buffering action. Sodium alginate reacts with gastric acid present in the stomach and produces a low-density viscous gel that floats on top of the stomach. This forms a physical barrier that protects the esophageal mucosa and the airways from the gastric reflux. Alginate has a rapid onset, providing quick relief from reflux symptoms. Additionally, it has a prolonged duration of action, providing relief for up to 4 hours.
How to take Gavisgene Syrup
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Measure it with a measuring cup and take it by mouth. Shake well before use. Gavisgene Suspension Peppermint Sugar Free may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

Warnings and precautions
This is for short-term relief. See a doctor if you need it most days for more than a couple of weeks. Seek urgent care for chest pain that spreads to the arm or jaw, comes with sweating or breathlessness — do not assume it is acidity. Antacids interfere with the absorption of many other medicines. Take them at least two hours apart from anything else. Do not take more than your doctor has advised. Vitamin D builds up in the body and too much raises blood calcium, causing thirst, frequent urination, nausea and confusion. High-dose weekly or monthly sachets are prescription strengths — do not repeat one because you missed a week. Tell your doctor if you have had kidney stones or have kidney disease.
Do not take Gavisgene if
Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Magnesium-containing antacids are avoided in significant kidney disease. Not for people with a high blood calcium level, or with certain kidney stones.
Interactions with other medicines
