Metformin Hydrochloride + Vildagliptin + Glimepiride (strengths unknown for this pack/variant)
Type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults when blood sugar is not adequately controlled with diet/exercise and existing therapy; helps control fasting and post‑meal glucose.
Metformin reduces glucose production in the liver and improves insulin sensitivity. Vildagliptin (a DPP-4 inhibitor) increases incretin hormones, boosting glucose‑dependent insulin release and lowering glucagon. Glimepiride (a sulfonylurea) stimulates the pancreas to release insulin, lowering blood glucose.
Oral tablets. Take exactly as prescribed, usually once or twice daily with meals to reduce stomach upset and risk of low sugar. Swallow whole with water; do not skip meals. Monitor blood glucose regularly.
Common side effects of GLUCONORM VG1 PLUS 15S may include:
Risk of hypoglycaemia (higher with glimepiride) especially with missed meals, excess exercise or alcohol. Metformin may rarely cause lactic acidosis—risk increases with kidney disease, dehydration, severe infection, heart/respiratory failure and heavy alcohol use; kidney function monitoring is important. Vildagliptin can affect liver enzymes—periodic LFTs may be advised; stop and seek care if jaundice/dark urine. Inform doctor before surgery/iodinated contrast imaging; may need temporary stop. Use caution in elderly and in renal/hepatic impairment.
