Composition of Glyvas 10 mg Tablet

Glyvas 10 mg Tablet contains Vildagliptin 10 mg. It belongs to the DPP-4 inhibitor (gliptin) class of medicines.

Uses of Glyvas 10 mg Tablet

• Type 2 diabetes mellitus (to help control blood glucose)

How Glyvas 10 mg Tablet works

Vildagliptin is a DPP-4 inhibitor that increases levels of incretin hormones (GLP-1 and GIP). This enhances glucose-dependent insulin release and reduces glucagon secretion, lowering blood sugar with a low risk of hypoglycaemia when used alone.

How to take Glyvas 10 mg Tablet

Tablet for oral use. Take exactly as prescribed, at the same time each day, with or without food. Swallow whole with water; do not crush/chew unless advised. Continue diet/exercise and monitor blood glucose as directed.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine may cause low blood sugar, particularly if you also take other diabetes medicines. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Side effects of Glyvas 10 mg Tablet

Most side effects of Glyvas are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

• Headache
• dizziness
• nausea
• abdominal pain
• diarrhoea
• constipation
• upper respiratory tract infection symptoms
• tremor (more likely with other antidiabetics)
• hypoglycaemia (when combined with insulin/sulfonylureas)

Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Safety advice for Glyvas 10 mg Tablet

Warnings and precautions

Use with caution in kidney or liver disease; periodic liver function tests may be advised. Stop and seek medical help if symptoms of pancreatitis occur (severe persistent abdominal pain), or if allergic reactions/skin blistering occur. Risk of hypoglycaemia increases when combined with insulin or sulfonylureas—dose adjustment may be needed. Not a substitute for insulin in type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. Inform doctor if you have heart failure history.

Do not take Glyvas if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for type 1 diabetes or for diabetic ketoacidosis.

Interactions with other medicines

Insulin and sulfonylureas (increased hypoglycaemia risk), ACE inhibitors (rare risk of angioedema reported with DPP-4 inhibitors), other antidiabetic medicines (additive glucose-lowering), drugs affecting liver function (monitoring advised)

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from moisture and direct light. Keep out of reach of children.
