Cefpodoxime proxetil 200 mg (as cefpodoxime) tablet
Bacterial infections such as respiratory tract infections (pharyngitis/tonsillitis, sinusitis, bronchitis, pneumonia), ear infections (otitis media), urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and uncomplicated gonorrhoea (as prescribed).
Cefpodoxime is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic. It kills susceptible bacteria by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to bacterial cell lysis and death.
Tablet for oral use. Take exactly as prescribed, usually twice daily; preferably take with food to improve absorption. Swallow whole with water and complete the full course even if you feel better.

Use only for bacterial infections. Inform doctor if you have allergy to cephalosporins/penicillins, history of severe allergy, kidney disease, or colitis/antibiotic-associated diarrhoea. Stop and seek medical help for severe rash, breathing difficulty, facial swelling, or severe/persistent diarrhoea (possible C. difficile). Dose adjustment may be needed in renal impairment. May affect some lab tests (Coombs test); tell your clinician/lab.
