Fungal skin and nail infections need long courses — weeks for skin, months for nails. Stopping when it looks better is the commonest reason it returns. Interacts strongly with statins, some heart medicines, blood thinners and sedatives — some combinations must be avoided altogether. Acid-reducing medicines lower the absorption of itraconazole.
