Composition of Levomont LC Tablet

Levomont LC Tablet contains Levocetirizine (5mg) + Montelukast (10mg). It belongs to the Second-generation H1 antihistamine + Leukotriene (CysLT1) receptor antagonist class of medicines.

How Levomont LC Tablet works

Levocetirizine is a second‑generation antihistamine that blocks H1 receptors to reduce sneezing, itching, and runny nose. Montelukast blocks leukotriene (CysLT1) receptors to reduce airway/allergic inflammation, nasal congestion, and allergy-related wheeze.

How to take Levomont LC Tablet

Tablet for oral use. Take as prescribed, commonly once daily in the evening, with or without food; swallow whole with water. Do not exceed the prescribed dose; if you miss a dose, take it when remembered unless it is near the next dose.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of Levomont-LC Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause severe drowsiness, a fast heartbeat, confusion and, in children, agitation and fits. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Side effects of Levomont LC Tablet

Most side effects of Levomont LC are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

Warnings and precautions

May cause drowsiness—avoid driving/operating machinery if affected. Use with caution in kidney disease (dose adjustment may be needed) and in patients with history of seizures. Montelukast has been associated with mood/behavior changes (agitation, sleep disturbance, depression, suicidal thoughts); stop and seek medical advice if these occur. Not meant for relief of acute asthma attack. Inform doctor about liver disease, pregnancy/breastfeeding, and all medicines being taken.

Do not take Levomont LC if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. The sedating antihistamines are not suitable for very young children, or for people with glaucoma or an enlarged prostate, without medical advice.

Interactions with other medicines

Alcohol and other CNS depressants (increased sedation), ritonavir (may increase levocetirizine levels), enzyme inducers like rifampicin/phenytoin/phenobarbital (may reduce montelukast effect), gemfibrozil (may increase montelukast levels), theophylline (minor interaction)

Store below 25°C, protected from moisture and light. Keep in original blister pack and out of reach of children.

Drinking water frequently, maintaining oral hygiene, or using sugar-free gum or candy may help. Inform your doctor if you have a history of kidney disease before taking Levomont-LC Tablet. Watch for unusual mood changes, irritability, or sleep disturbances, and inform your doctor if they occur.
