Composition of Minscalp 2 % Gel

Minscalp 2 % Gel contains Minoxidil (2%). It belongs to the Hair growth stimulant / anti-dandruff agent class of medicines.

Uses of Minscalp 2 % Gel

  • This medicine is used in the treatment of hair loss
  • dandruff and scalp conditions.

Key benefits

  • Slows hair loss and can regrow hair
  • Controls dandruff and scalp flaking

How Minscalp 2 % Gel works

Minoxidil acts on the scalp and hair follicles to slow hair loss and control flaking.

How to take Minscalp 2 % Gel

Clean and dry the affected area, then apply a thin layer and rub it in gently. Wash your hands before and after use, unless your hands are the area being treated. This is for use on the skin only — do not swallow it. Follow the dose and the duration written on your prescription.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Apply it as soon as you remember. If it is nearly time for the next application, skip the missed one — applying extra does not make up for it.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause a fall in blood pressure and a racing heart when far too much is applied to the skin. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Side effects of Minscalp 2 % Gel

Most side effects of Minscalp are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

  • Scalp irritation
  • Itching
  • Dryness
  • Increased shedding in the first weeks
  • Unwanted hair growth

Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Warnings and precautions

Topical minoxidil causes a burst of shedding in the first two to eight weeks. This is the old hair making way for new — it is expected, not a failure. Results take three to six months, and stop when you stop. This is a continuing treatment, not a cure. Finasteride must not be handled or taken by anyone who is pregnant or could become pregnant — it causes birth defects. Do not let a pregnant person handle broken or crushed tablets. Apply topical treatments to a dry scalp, not to hair, and wash your hands afterwards. Tell your doctor about any chest pain, dizziness, rapid heartbeat or sudden weight gain with minoxidil.

Do not take Minscalp if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for use on inflamed, broken or sunburnt scalp.

Interactions with other medicines

Avoid applying other scalp products at the same time of day unless advised.

How to store Minscalp 2 % Gel

Store below 30°C, away from direct sunlight. Close the cap tightly after each use. Keep out of the reach of children.

Expert advice for Minscalp 2 % Gel

Be consistent — irregular use gives no result. Have persistent or patchy hair loss assessed; thyroid disease, iron deficiency and other causes are treatable.
