Composition of Myatro Eye Drops

Myatro Eye Drops contains Atropine. It belongs to the Eye drops class of medicines.

Uses of Myatro Eye Drops

  • This medicine is used in the treatment of eye infection
  • eye inflammation
  • dry eyes
  • glaucoma and allergic conjunctivitis.

Key benefits

  • Delivers medicine straight to the eye
  • Very little reaches the rest of the body

How Myatro Eye Drops works

Atropine acts directly on the surface and inside of the eye where it is instilled.

How to take Myatro Eye Drops

Wash your hands. Tilt your head back, pull the lower lid down to make a small pocket and squeeze one drop into it, then close the eye gently for a minute. Do not let the dropper tip touch your eye, your fingers or any surface. Follow the dose and the duration written on your prescription.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Apply it as soon as you remember. If it is nearly time for the next application, skip the missed one — applying extra does not make up for it.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine is unlikely from eye use; flush the eye with clean water if too much is instilled. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Side effects of Myatro Eye Drops

Most side effects of Myatro are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

  • Stinging on instillation
  • Blurred vision for a few minutes
  • Watering
  • Redness
  • Bitter taste

Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Warnings and precautions

Never let the dropper tip touch your eye, eyelid or fingers — that is how a bottle becomes contaminated and causes a worse infection. Discard the bottle one month after you first open it, even if drops remain. Remove soft contact lenses before instilling drops and wait fifteen minutes before putting them back, unless the drops are specifically made for use with lenses. Seek same-day care for eye pain, marked redness, sensitivity to light or any loss of vision. Steroid eye drops must only be used under medical supervision — used wrongly they can raise eye pressure and damage sight. Glaucoma drops must be used every day for life; there are no symptoms until sight is already lost.

Do not take Myatro if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for anyone with a known allergy to the preservative in the preparation.

Interactions with other medicines

Beta blocker eye drops can be absorbed enough to slow the heart and tighten the airways — tell your doctor if you have asthma or a heart condition.

How to store Myatro Eye Drops

Store below 30°C, away from direct sunlight. Discard the bottle one month after you first open it, even if some is left. Keep out of the reach of children.

Expert advice for Myatro Eye Drops

Press gently on the inner corner of the eye for a minute after instilling — this keeps the drop in the eye and reduces the bitter taste. Leave five minutes between two different drops. Never share eye drops with anyone.
