How Nucoxia 60 Tablet works
Etoricoxib is a selective COX-2 inhibitor (NSAID) that reduces the production of prostaglandins responsible for pain, fever and inflammation. COX-2 selectivity helps reduce gastric irritation compared with non-selective NSAIDs, though risk is not eliminated.
How to take Nucoxia 60 Tablet
Oral tablet. Take exactly as prescribed, preferably at the same time each day. Can be taken with or without food (food may delay onset for acute pain). Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration; do not exceed the prescribed dose.
Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.
Missed dose and overdose
If you miss a dose
Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.
If you take too much
An overdose of this medicine can cause stomach bleeding, kidney failure, drowsiness and fits. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.
Side effects of Nucoxia 60 Tablet
Most side effects of Nucoxia are mild and settle as the body gets used to the medicine. The ones reported most often are:
- acidity/heartburn
- stomach pain
- nausea
- diarrhoea
- swelling (oedema)
- dizziness
- headache
- increased blood pressure
Stop the medicine and get help at once for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Warnings and precautions
Not recommended in severe heart failure, established ischaemic heart disease, peripheral arterial disease, cerebrovascular disease or uncontrolled hypertension. Use with caution in hypertension, kidney disease, liver disease, dehydration, elderly, history of ulcers/GI bleeding. May increase risk of serious cardiovascular events (heart attack/stroke), especially with higher doses/longer use. Can cause fluid retention and worsening heart failure. NSAIDs may cause GI ulcer/bleeding and kidney injury; stop and seek care for black stools, vomiting blood, chest pain, sudden weakness, shortness of breath, severe rash or reduced urine output. Avoid in aspirin/NSAID allergy and in late pregnancy; may affect fertility.
Do not take Nucoxia if
Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for people with an active stomach ulcer, severe kidney or heart failure, or asthma triggered by aspirin or anti-inflammatory painkillers. Not in the third trimester of pregnancy.
Interactions with other medicines
Other NSAIDs and high-dose aspirin (increased GI risk), anticoagulants (e.g., warfarin) and antiplatelets (bleeding risk), ACE inhibitors/ARBs and diuretics (kidney risk, reduced antihypertensive effect), lithium (increased levels), methotrexate (increased toxicity risk), cyclosporine/tacrolimus (kidney risk), rifampicin (reduced etoricoxib levels), oral contraceptives/estrogens (may increase estrogen exposure), digoxin (may increase levels)

Store below 25°C, in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep in original strip and out of reach of children.
