Olmesartan medoxomil 20 mg + Chlorthalidone 12.5 mg (per tablet)
Treatment of essential hypertension (high blood pressure), especially when blood pressure is not adequately controlled with single-drug therapy
Olmesartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that relaxes blood vessels by blocking angiotensin II at AT1 receptors, lowering blood pressure. Chlorthalidone is a thiazide-like diuretic that increases salt and water excretion, reducing blood volume and vascular resistance. Together they provide additive blood pressure lowering.
Take as prescribed by the doctor, usually once daily at the same time each day. Can be taken with or without food; swallow whole with water. Because it contains a diuretic, taking it in the morning may reduce nighttime urination; do not stop suddenly without medical advice.
Common side effects of OLMETRACK CT 12.5MG TAB may include:
Not recommended in pregnancy (can harm the fetus); stop and consult a doctor immediately if pregnant. May cause dizziness—avoid driving until you know the effect. Risk of dehydration and electrolyte imbalance (low potassium/sodium), especially in elderly, vomiting/diarrhea, or with other diuretics. Monitor kidney function and potassium; caution in kidney disease, liver disease, heart failure, diabetes, gout/hyperuricemia. Rarely may cause severe diarrhea/weight loss (sprue-like enteropathy) with olmesartan—seek medical advice if persistent. Avoid salt substitutes/high potassium intake unless advised.
