A substitute contains the same active ingredient (salt), in the same strength, as Pantocid 20 Tablet. The medicine inside is the same — the brand name, manufacturer and price are what differ.
All medicines sold in India, branded or generic, must meet the quality standards set by the national drug regulator (CDSCO). A lower price does not mean lower quality.
Please confirm with your doctor or pharmacist before switching brands — they will check that the strength and form match your prescription.
Pantocid 20 Tablet contains Pantoprazole (20mg).
Gastroesophageal reflux disease (Acid reflux) Duodenal Ulcer
Pantocid 20 Tablet is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI). It works by reducing the amount of acid in the stomach, which in turn relieves acid-related indigestion and heartburn.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Pantocid 20 Tablet is to be taken on an empty stomach.
Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.
If you miss a dose of Pantocid 20 Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
Taking more Pantocid than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.
Most side effects of Pantocid are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:
Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Tell your doctor or pharmacist about every medicine you take, including over-the-counter products, vitamins and herbal or ayurvedic preparations, before starting Pantocid. Some combinations can change how Pantocid works or raise the chance of side effects.
Store Pantocid below 30°C in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep the pack tightly closed and out of the reach of children. Do not use it after the expiry date printed on the pack.
Pantocid 20 Tablet should be taken 1 hour before a meal, preferably in the morning. It is a well-tolerated medicine and provides relief for a long time. Inform your doctor if you get watery diarrhea, fever, or stomach pain that does not go away. Inform your doctor if you do not feel better after taking it for 14 days, as you may be suffering from some other problem that needs attention. Long-term use of Pantocid 20 Tablet can cause weak bones and a deficiency of minerals such as magnesium. Take adequate dietary intake of calcium and magnesium or their supplements as prescribed by your doctor. Do not stop taking medication without talking to your doctor. Consult your doctor right away if you develop decreased urination, edema (swelling due to fluid retention), lower back pain, nausea, fatigue, rash, or fever. These could be signs of a kidney problem.
