Cephalexin (as Cephalexin Monohydrate) 125 mg/5 mL oral suspension (paediatric drops)
Bacterial infections in children such as throat/tonsil infections, ear infections, respiratory tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and urinary tract infections caused by susceptible organisms
Cephalexin is a first‑generation cephalosporin antibiotic. It kills bacteria by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to cell lysis and death. It is not effective for viral infections like common cold or flu.
Paediatric oral drops/suspension: Use only as prescribed by the doctor. Shake well before each dose, measure with the provided dropper/syringe, and give at evenly spaced intervals; can be given with or without food (with food if stomach upset occurs). Complete the full prescribed course even if the child feels better.

A substitute contains the same active ingredient (salt), in the same strength, as Phexin Paed Drops. The medicine inside is the same — the brand name, manufacturer and price are what differ.
All medicines sold in India, branded or generic, must meet the quality standards set by the national drug regulator (CDSCO). A lower price does not mean lower quality.
Please confirm with your doctor or pharmacist before switching brands — they will check that the strength and form match your prescription.
Prescription antibiotic—use only for confirmed/suspected bacterial infection. Do not use in patients with known allergy to cephalexin/cephalosporins; use with caution in penicillin allergy (cross‑reactivity possible). Use caution in kidney impairment (dose adjustment may be needed). Stop and seek medical help if severe allergy (swelling, breathing difficulty), severe skin rash, or severe/persistent diarrhoea occurs (risk of antibiotic‑associated colitis).
