How Respizen Nasal Spray works

Respizen Nasal Spray is a steroid. It gets absorbed into the cells of the inner surface of the nose and works by blocking the production of certain chemical messengers that cause inflammation (swelling) and allergies. This relieves blocked or runny nose, sneezing and sinus discomfort, and other symptoms caused by nasal congestion and nasal polyps.

How to take Respizen Nasal Spray

Use this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Insert the bottle tip into one nostril and close the other nostril. Direct the spray towards the sides of your nostril, away from the cartilage dividing the two sides of your nose. As you spray, breath gently and keep the head upright. Repeat the same process for the other nostrils.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of Respizen Nasal Spray, use it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can suppress the body's own steroid production when it is used for a long time over large areas, especially in children. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Use it only on the area and for the number of days your doctor specified. Potent steroid creams thin the skin permanently when used for too long. Never use a potent steroid cream on the face, the groin or the underarms unless your doctor has specifically told you to — the skin there is thin and absorbs much more. Do not use it on an infection. A steroid on ringworm, impetigo or herpes makes the infection worse while hiding it. Do not use leftover cream on a new rash, and never pass it to someone else. Stop and see your doctor if the area becomes more painful, weepy or crusted.

Do not take Respizen Nasal if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for untreated bacterial, fungal or viral skin infections. Not for use in or around the eyes.

Store below 30°C, away from direct sunlight. Do not freeze. Keep out of the reach of children.

Expert advice for Respizen Nasal Spray

Do not use Respizen Nasal Spray on deep skin wounds, blistered skin, severe burns, or large skin areas. Apply to the skin only. Avoid sensitive areas such as your eyes, mouth/nose, and the vaginal/groin area. After applying Respizen Nasal Spray, remember to wash your hands (unless your hands are the treated area). If you are allergic to any ingredients in Respizen Nasal Spray, do not use the product. If you are not sure, please consult a dermatologist. Do not bathe immediately after applying Respizen Nasal Spray. Leave it for at least two hours after application. If applying this product to the feet, cover your feet with socks for the best results.
