Rifigon 400 mg Tablet contains Rifampicin 400 mg tablet. It belongs to the Rifamycin antibiotic class of medicines.
Rifampicin is a rifamycin antibiotic that inhibits bacterial DNA-dependent RNA polymerase, blocking RNA synthesis. This prevents bacterial multiplication and helps clear susceptible infections, especially Mycobacterium tuberculosis.

Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Prescription-only anti-tubercular medicine. Risk of liver toxicity—use caution in liver disease, alcoholism, elderly, or when used with other hepatotoxic drugs; monitor liver function. May cause severe allergic reactions, thrombocytopenia or kidney problems rarely—seek medical help for unusual bleeding/bruising, severe rash, jaundice, dark urine, persistent vomiting or abdominal pain. Can stain soft contact lenses due to orange-red body fluid discoloration. Adherence is critical in TB to prevent resistance.
Strong enzyme inducer—reduces effect of oral contraceptives, warfarin/acenocoumarol, many antiretrovirals (protease inhibitors, some NNRTIs), azole antifungals (ketoconazole/itraconazole), macrolides, doxycycline, corticosteroids, antidiabetics (sulfonylureas), anticonvulsants (phenytoin), digoxin, cyclosporine/tacrolimus, statins, benzodiazepines; increased liver risk with isoniazid and alcohol
Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep in original blister pack and out of reach of children.
