How Tackon Ointment works

Tackon 0.03% Ointment is an immunosuppressant. It works by suppressing the activity of certain immune cells that cause inflammation (redness and swelling) of the skin. This relieves itching and improves rashes in atopic dermatitis.

How to take Tackon Ointment

This medicine is for external use only. Use it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Clean and dry the affected area and gently massage the ointment.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of Tackon 0.03% Ointment, apply it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can suppress the body's own steroid production when it is used for a long time over large areas, especially in children. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Most side effects of Tackon are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

Warnings and precautions

Use it only on the area and for the number of days your doctor specified. Potent steroid creams thin the skin permanently when used for too long. Never use a potent steroid cream on the face, the groin or the underarms unless your doctor has specifically told you to — the skin there is thin and absorbs much more. Do not use it on an infection. A steroid on ringworm, impetigo or herpes makes the infection worse while hiding it. Do not use leftover cream on a new rash, and never pass it to someone else. Stop and see your doctor if the area becomes more painful, weepy or crusted.

Do not take Tackon if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for untreated bacterial, fungal or viral skin infections. Not for use in or around the eyes.

No significant interactions are expected from preparations used on the skin.

How to store Tackon Ointment

Store below 30°C, away from direct sunlight. Close the cap tightly after each use. Keep out of the reach of children.

Tackon 0.03% Ointment is effective at treating eczema (atopic dermatitis) when other treatment options have failed. Apply thinly to affected areas of skin only. Clean the affected area and dry well before applying Tackon 0.03% Ointment. Avoid contact with water after application. Inform your doctor if there's no improvement even after two weeks of treatment, or if the skin gets worse. Don't cover the area being treated with airtight dressings such as bandages unless directed by a doctor, as this may increase the risk of side effects. Stop using Tackon 0.03% Ointment and consult your doctor if your eczema becomes infected. Continuous long-term use of the ointment should be avoided. Use as prescribed by your doctor.
