Tacrolimus 0.03% w/w ointment
Treatment of atopic dermatitis (eczema), especially mild to moderate eczema and for maintenance/prevention of flare-ups when topical steroids are unsuitable
Tacrolimus is a topical calcineurin inhibitor that suppresses T-cell activation by inhibiting calcineurin, reducing release of inflammatory cytokines. This decreases skin inflammation, itching and redness associated with eczema.
For external use only. Apply a thin layer to affected skin as advised by a doctor, usually twice daily until symptoms improve; may be used as maintenance (e.g., twice weekly) to prevent flares. Can be applied with or without food; avoid occlusive dressings unless prescribed. Wash hands after application (unless treating hands) and avoid contact with eyes, mouth and mucous membranes.
Common side effects of TACROMIZ 0.03% OINTMENT may include:
Do not use on infected skin (seek treatment for infection first). Avoid excessive sunlight/UV exposure; use sunscreen/protective clothing. Not recommended for immunocompromised patients unless advised by a specialist. Do not apply to malignant or pre-malignant skin lesions. Use the smallest amount for the shortest duration needed; long-term continuous use should be avoided unless directed. Discontinue and consult doctor if severe irritation, swelling, or signs of infection occur.
