Medically reviewed by Dr. Balaji Krishnan, MBBS · Updated September 2026
Tapfree Mono 50 Tablet contains Tapentadol (50mg). It belongs to the Opioid analgesic class of medicines.
Moderate to severe pain
Tapfree-Mono 50 Tablet works by changing how the brain and nerves respond to pain. It reduces pain signals by acting on opioid receptors and also enhances the levels of a natural chemical called norepinephrine, which helps block pain messages in the nervous system. Together, these actions help provide effective relief from moderate to severe pain.
Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
Most side effects of Tapfree Mono are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:
Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Take it with or just after food, and for the shortest time that works. Stop and seek urgent care for black or tarry stools, vomiting blood, or severe stomach pain — this group can cause bleeding from the stomach. Long or high-dose use raises the risk of heart attack, stroke and kidney injury, particularly in older people and those already at risk. Avoid if you are dehydrated or have an illness with vomiting or loose motions — the kidneys are vulnerable then. Must be avoided in the last three months of pregnancy. This is an opioid painkiller. It can cause dependence, and should be taken only for the period your doctor has specified. Never combine it with alcohol, sleeping tablets or other sedatives — together they can dangerously slow your breathing. Do not stop a long course abruptly; your doctor will reduce it gradually.
Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for people with an active stomach ulcer, severe kidney or heart failure, or asthma triggered by aspirin or anti-inflammatory painkillers. Not in the third trimester of pregnancy.
Combining with a blood thinner or aspirin sharply raises the bleeding risk. Reduces the effect of blood pressure medicines and water tablets, and together with them can harm the kidneys. Never take two anti-inflammatory painkillers at the same time.
Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
Tapfree-Mono 50 Tablet is a strong painkiller which is used in the treatment of moderate to severe pain when other treatments do not treat your pain well enough or you cannot tolerate them. The addiction / habit-forming potential of Tapfree-Mono 50 Tablet is very high. Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Use caution while driving or doing anything that requires concentration as Tapfree-Mono 50 Tablet can cause dizziness and sleepiness. While taking this medication, avoid alcohol in all forms including beer, wine, aftershave lotions, mouthwash, vinegar, certain desserts, colognes, and liquid medications. Inform your doctor if you have asthma, liver, kidney or pancreatic disease, or are severely constipated.
