How Telsite H 80+12.5 mg works

Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that relaxes blood vessels by blocking angiotensin II, lowering blood pressure. Hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic that increases salt and water excretion via the kidneys, reducing blood volume and blood pressure.

How to take Telsite H 80+12.5 mg

Oral tablet. Take as prescribed, usually once daily at the same time each day, with or without food. Swallow whole with water; do not stop abruptly without medical advice.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take the missed dose of Telsite H 80+12.5 mg as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and carry on with the usual schedule. Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed dose.

If you take too much

Taking more Telsite H 80+12.5 mg than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.

Most side effects of Telsite H 80+12.5 mg are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

• dizziness
• headache
• fatigue
• low blood pressure
• increased urination
• dehydration
• nausea
• electrolyte imbalance (low potassium/low sodium)
• increased uric acid
• increased blood sugar

Warnings and precautions

Not recommended in pregnancy (can harm fetus). Use caution in kidney or liver disease, dehydration, low blood pressure, electrolyte imbalance, gout, diabetes, and in the elderly. Monitor blood pressure, kidney function (creatinine), and electrolytes (potassium, sodium). May cause dizziness—avoid driving if affected. Risk of photosensitivity with hydrochlorothiazide; use sun protection.

Interactions with other medicines

ACE inhibitors or aliskiren (higher risk of kidney impairment, high potassium, low BP; avoid in diabetes with aliskiren), potassium supplements/potassium-sparing diuretics (risk of hyperkalemia), NSAIDs (reduced effect and kidney risk), lithium (toxicity), other antihypertensives (additive low BP), corticosteroids/ACTH (electrolyte loss), antidiabetic medicines (dose adjustment may be needed), alcohol (increases dizziness/low BP)
