Thyrorich 50 Tablet contains Thyroxine (50mcg). It belongs to the Thyroid hormone (T4) analogue class of medicines.

How Thyrorich 50 Tablet works

Levothyroxine is a synthetic form of thyroid hormone (T4). It is converted in the body to T3, which regulates metabolism, energy, heart rate and growth, thereby correcting low thyroid hormone levels.

How to take Thyrorich 50 Tablet

Take orally once daily as prescribed, preferably in the morning on an empty stomach 30–60 minutes before breakfast with water. Avoid taking with calcium/iron/antacids within 4 hours; take consistently at the same time each day and follow TSH monitoring.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of Thyrorich 50mcg Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause a racing heart, chest pain, tremor, fever and dangerous heart rhythm disturbance. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Side effects of Thyrorich 50 Tablet

Most side effects of Thyrorich are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

• weight loss
• diarrhoea
• heat intolerance
• sweating

Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Warnings and precautions

Use only under medical supervision with periodic TSH/T4 monitoring; dose is individualized. Overdose/over-replacement can cause symptoms of hyperthyroidism and may worsen angina, arrhythmias or heart failure; start low in elderly/cardiac patients. Use caution in adrenal insufficiency (treat first), diabetes (may alter glucose control) and osteoporosis risk. Not for weight loss in euthyroid patients.

Do not take Thyrorich if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for people with an untreated overactive thyroid or untreated adrenal insufficiency.

How to store Thyrorich 50 Tablet

Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep container tightly closed and out of reach of children.

Expert advice for Thyrorich 50 Tablet

Thyrorich 50mcg Tablet should be taken on an empty stomach (ideally, first thing in the morning). No food, milk, or tea should be taken 1 hour before and 2 hours after taking this medicine. It may take 6 to 8 weeks to get the full effect. For most people, Thyrorich 50mcg Tablet can be a lifelong medication. Do not discontinue it without discussing your doctor. Inform your doctor if you have diarrhea, nervousness, irritability, sleep disturbances, shaking hands, or chest pain. Your doctor may adjust your dose. Leave a gap of at least 4 hours before taking any antacids, calcium or iron supplements, and multivitamins, as these may interfere with the effect of the medicine. Get your hormone levels checked regularly and inform your doctor if you notice a significant change in your body weight. The dose may need to be adjusted. Inform your doctor before changing the brand of Thyrorich 50mcg Tablet as all brands may not have the same effect.
