How Topex Dx Rf Syrup works

This is typically a cough-and-cold combination syrup. An antitussive suppresses the cough centre in the brain to reduce dry cough, while an antihistamine reduces allergy symptoms such as sneezing and runny nose and may provide drying effect on secretions.

How to take Topex Dx Rf Syrup

Shake well before use. Take the measured dose using a measuring cup/spoon as prescribed by the doctor. Can be taken with or without food; if stomach upset occurs, take after food. Avoid exceeding the recommended dose and avoid using with other cough/cold medicines unless advised.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take the missed dose of Topex Dx Rf as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and carry on with the usual schedule. Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed dose.

Warnings and precautions

May cause drowsiness—avoid driving or operating machinery. Do not use in children except on medical advice. Use with caution in glaucoma, enlarged prostate/urinary retention, asthma/COPD, liver disease, and in elderly. Do not use for persistent cough due to smoking/asthma or cough with excessive phlegm unless advised. Seek medical help if symptoms persist >3–5 days, high fever, rash, breathing difficulty, or worsening cough occurs.

Interactions with other medicines

Alcohol and other CNS depressants (sedatives, opioids), monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) and some antidepressants, other antihistamines/cough-cold combinations, anticholinergic medicines, certain antibiotics/antifungals that increase sedating antihistamine levels
