Tranexamic Acid 500 mg/5 mL injection (100 mg/mL)
Treatment and prevention of bleeding due to increased fibrinolysis such as heavy menstrual bleeding (menorrhagia), postoperative bleeding (including dental procedures), trauma-related bleeding, epistaxis, and other hemorrhagic conditions as advised by a doctor
Tranexamic acid is an antifibrinolytic agent that blocks the binding of plasminogen to fibrin, thereby preventing conversion to plasmin. This stabilizes formed blood clots and reduces excessive bleeding.
Injection for IV use (slow IV injection/IV infusion) as prescribed by the doctor; dose and duration depend on indication and kidney function. Do not self-administer; avoid rapid IV injection.
Common side effects of TRANOSTAT INJ 5*5ML may include:
Risk of thromboembolic events (DVT/PE/stroke) especially in patients with clotting disorders or history of thrombosis; contraindicated in active intravascular clotting. Use with caution in renal impairment (dose adjustment needed). Seek urgent care for chest pain, breathlessness, leg swelling, sudden weakness, or vision changes. Avoid in subarachnoid hemorrhage unless specifically advised. Ophthalmic evaluation may be needed with prolonged use; discontinue if visual symptoms occur.
