Composition of Tranostat Tablet

Tranostat Tablet contains Tranexamic Acid (750mg). It belongs to the Antifibrinolytic (Tranexamic acid) class of medicines.

Uses of Tranostat Tablet

Treatment and prevention of bleeding due to hyperfibrinolysis; heavy menstrual bleeding (menorrhagia); bleeding after dental extraction in haemophilia; postoperative or traumatic bleeding episodes (as prescribed).

How Tranostat Tablet works

Tranexamic acid is an antifibrinolytic that blocks the binding of plasminogen/plasmin to fibrin, preventing breakdown of blood clots. This stabilizes clots and reduces excessive bleeding.

How to take Tranostat Tablet

Tablet for oral use. Take exactly as prescribed by the doctor; may be taken with or without food (take with food if stomach upset occurs). Swallow with water; do not exceed the recommended dose and duration.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of Tranostat 750mg Tablet, skip it and continue with your normal schedule. Do not double the dose.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine may be harmful — seek medical advice immediately. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Side effects of Tranostat Tablet

Most side effects of Tranostat are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

• abdominal pain
• headache
• dizziness
• back pain
• nasal congestion

Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Safety advice for Tranostat Tablet

Warnings and precautions

Use with caution in patients with history/risk of blood clots (DVT/PE), stroke, thrombophilia, or on hormonal contraception. Contraindicated in active thromboembolic disease and subarachnoid haemorrhage. Dose adjustment may be needed in kidney disease. Seek urgent care for visual disturbances, chest pain, shortness of breath, or leg swelling. Not for use in hematuria from upper urinary tract due to risk of ureteric obstruction (clots).

Interactions with other medicines

Combined oral contraceptives/estrogen therapy (increased thrombosis risk), Factor IX complex concentrates or anti-inhibitor coagulant complex (risk of thrombosis), thrombolytics (antagonistic effect), anticoagulants/antiplatelets (may affect bleeding control), tretinoin (reported thrombosis risk)

Store at room temperature below 25°C, protected from moisture and light. Keep out of reach of children.

Tranostat 750mg Tablet helps prevent or reduce heavy bleeding post surgery and in conditions such as heavy periods, dysfunctional uterine bleeding, and nosebleeds. Your doctor will prescribe the lowest effective dose for the shortest possible time necessary to relieve your symptoms. If taking for heavy periods, take it on the first day as taking it before or after will not have any benefit. Your doctor may monitor your vision regularly while you are taking this medicine. Inform your doctor if you have a history of kidney or liver disease. Inform your doctor if there is no improvement in your bleeding after using this medicine for three consecutive periods.
