Composition of Vilsure M Tablet

Vilsure M Tablet contains Metformin (500mg) + Vildagliptin (50mg). It belongs to the Biguanide + DPP-4 inhibitor class of medicines.

Uses of Vilsure M Tablet

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (as an adjunct to diet and exercise) when blood sugar is not adequately controlled with metformin alone or other oral antidiabetics; helps control fasting and post‑meal glucose.

How Vilsure M Tablet works

Metformin reduces glucose production in the liver and improves insulin sensitivity, lowering insulin resistance. Vildagliptin is a DPP-4 inhibitor that increases incretin hormones (GLP‑1, GIP), leading to increased insulin release and reduced glucagon in a glucose‑dependent manner.

How to take Vilsure M Tablet

Oral tablet; take exactly as prescribed, usually with meals to reduce stomach upset. Swallow whole with water; do not crush/chew unless advised. Follow diet/exercise plan and monitor blood glucose regularly.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take the missed dose of Vilsure M as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and carry on with the usual schedule. Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed dose.

If you take too much

Taking more Vilsure M than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.

Side effects of Vilsure M Tablet

Most side effects of Vilsure M are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

• Nausea
• vomiting
• diarrhea
• abdominal pain
• loss of appetite
• headache
• dizziness
• tremor
• low blood sugar (especially with other antidiabetics)
• upper respiratory tract infection
• nasopharyngitis

Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Safety advice for Vilsure M Tablet

Warnings and precautions

Prescription medicine. Risk of lactic acidosis with metformin (rare but serious): seek urgent care for rapid breathing, severe weakness, muscle pain, unusual sleepiness, abdominal pain. Avoid/use with caution in kidney impairment; dose adjustment or discontinuation may be needed based on eGFR. Use caution in liver disease, dehydration, severe infection, hypoxia, heart failure, and in the elderly. Temporarily stop metformin before/at time of iodinated contrast imaging and during major surgery as advised by doctor. Hypoglycaemia risk increases if used with insulin/sulfonylureas; monitor glucose. Pancreatitis has been reported with DPP‑4 inhibitors—stop and seek care if severe persistent abdominal pain occurs.

Interactions with other medicines

Alcohol (increases lactic acidosis risk), iodinated contrast media, insulin and sulfonylureas (increased hypoglycaemia risk), diuretics and ACE inhibitors/ARBs (may affect renal function and metformin levels), corticosteroids and thiazide diuretics (may raise glucose), cimetidine (may increase metformin levels), beta‑blockers (may mask hypoglycaemia symptoms)

How to store Vilsure M Tablet

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place away from moisture and direct light. Keep in original strip and out of reach of children.
