How Viscodyne Ls Syrup works

This is a mucolytic/expectorant cough preparation that helps loosen and thin thick bronchial mucus so it can be coughed out more easily. It may also reduce airway spasm and ease breathing, improving clearance of secretions.

How to take Viscodyne Ls Syrup

Oral syrup. Shake well before use and measure with a dosing cup/spoon. Take as prescribed by the doctor; it is commonly taken 2–3 times daily, preferably after food. Maintain adequate fluid intake to help mucus clearance.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take the missed dose of Viscodyne Ls as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and carry on with the usual schedule. Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed dose.

If you take too much

Taking more Viscodyne Ls than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.

Side effects of Viscodyne Ls Syrup

Most side effects of Viscodyne Ls are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Safety advice for Viscodyne Ls Syrup

Warnings and precautions

Use with caution in asthma, severe liver or kidney disease, peptic ulcer disease, and in patients with a history of seizures. May cause dizziness/drowsiness—avoid driving or operating machinery if affected. Do not use to suppress cough completely in a productive cough unless advised by a doctor. Seek medical help if symptoms persist >3–5 days, high fever, wheezing, shortness of breath, or blood in sputum occurs. Not recommended in children without medical advice.

Interactions with other medicines

May increase risk of side effects with other CNS depressants (sedatives, alcohol). Concomitant use with antitussives (cough suppressants) may hinder mucus clearance. Interactions may occur with certain antibiotics and bronchodilators depending on exact ingredients; consult doctor/pharmacist with current medicines.

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place away from light. Keep the bottle tightly closed and out of reach of children.
