Voglismile 0.3 Tablet contains Metformin (500mg) + Voglibose (0.2mg). It belongs to the Alpha-glucosidase inhibitor class of medicines.

How Voglismile 0.3 Tablet works

Voglibose is an alpha‑glucosidase inhibitor that delays breakdown and absorption of carbohydrates in the small intestine. This reduces the rise in blood glucose after meals.

How to take Voglismile 0.3 Tablet

Take by mouth just before meals (typically immediately before the first bite of food) as prescribed by the doctor. If you skip a meal, skip the dose. Continue diet and exercise advice; monitor blood sugar regularly.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of Voglismile M 500mg/0.2mg Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause a dangerous build-up of acid in the blood, with vomiting, severe weakness and laboured breathing. It may cause low blood sugar and marked stomach upset. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Most side effects of Voglismile are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

Warnings and precautions

Not for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. Use with caution in kidney or liver disease and in elderly patients. Avoid/use caution in inflammatory bowel disease, colonic ulceration, intestinal obstruction or predisposition to obstruction. Risk of hypoglycaemia increases when used with insulin or sulfonylureas—carry glucose (dextrose) for treatment as sucrose absorption may be delayed. Seek medical help for severe abdominal pain, persistent diarrhea, or signs of liver injury (yellowing of eyes/skin, dark urine).

Do not take Voglismile if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for people with severe kidney disease, severe liver disease, or an acute illness causing dehydration. Not for people who have had diabetic ketoacidosis. Not for type 1 diabetes or for diabetic ketoacidosis. Not for people with heart failure, active bladder cancer or unexplained blood in the urine.

Interactions with other medicines

Insulin, sulfonylureas (e.g., glimepiride/gliclazide) may increase hypoglycaemia risk; digestive enzyme preparations (amylase/pancreatin) may reduce effect; intestinal adsorbents may reduce effect; other antidiabetics may have additive glucose-lowering.

Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep in original blister pack and out of reach of children.

Take it with food to lower your chance of having an upset stomach. It can cause hypoglycemia (low blood sugar level) when used with other antidiabetic medicines, alcohol or if you delay or miss a meal. Always carry some sugary food or fruit juice with you in case you experience hypoglycemia symptoms such as cold sweats, cool pale skin, tremor, and anxious feeling. Monitor your blood sugar level regularly while taking this medicine. Tell your doctor immediately if you experience any deep or rapid breathing, persistent nausea, vomiting or stomach pain as Voglismile M 500mg/0.2mg Tablet may cause a rare but serious condition called lactic acidosis, which is an excess of lactic acid in the blood.
