Warnings and precautions

Use only for bacterial infections; not effective for viral illness. Avoid if allergic to cefpodoxime/cephalosporins; caution with penicillin allergy. Dose adjustment may be needed in kidney disease. Prolonged use may cause superinfection; seek care for severe diarrhoea (possible C. difficile), severe rash, breathing difficulty, or facial swelling.

Interactions with other medicines

Antacids and H2 blockers (reduce absorption), probenecid (increases levels), anticoagulants like warfarin (may increase bleeding risk/INR), live bacterial vaccines (e.g., oral typhoid) may be less effective

How to store Zedocef 50 mg

Store dry powder at room temperature away from moisture and light. After reconstitution, store as per label (often refrigerated) and use within the prescribed period; do not freeze. Keep bottle tightly closed and out of reach of children.

Expert advice for Zedocef 50 mg

Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again, become resistant, or cause another infection. Give this medicine with food to avoid an upset stomach. Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect. Conditions like common cold and flu are caused by viruses. Never use this medicine for such conditions. Only give Zedocef 50mg Syrup to your child for their current infection. Never save medicine for future illnesses. Stop this medicine and immediately report to your child’s doctor in case your child develops an itchy rash, facial swelling, or breathing difficulties while taking this medicine. Your doctor has prescribed Zedocef 50mg Syrup to cure your infection and improve your symptoms. Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Stopping it early may make the infection harder to treat. Take it with food to avoid an upset stomach. Diarrhea may occur as a side effect but should stop when your course is complete. Inform your doctor if it does not stop or if you find blood in your stools. Avoid consuming alcohol while taking Zedocef 50mg Syrup as it may cause increased side effects. Discontinue Zedocef 50mg Syrup and inform your doctor immediately if you get a rash, itchy skin, swelling of face and mouth, or have difficulty in breathing.
