Cefpodoxime proxetil 50 mg/5 mL oral suspension (dry syrup)
Bacterial infections such as ear infections (otitis media), throat/tonsil infections, sinusitis, bronchitis/pneumonia, urinary tract infections, and skin/soft tissue infections (as prescribed).
Cefpodoxime is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic. It inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins, leading to bacterial cell death.
Oral suspension (dry syrup): Reconstitute with boiled and cooled water up to the mark, shake well. Give the prescribed dose using a measuring cup/syringe, preferably with food. Shake well before each dose and complete the full course even if symptoms improve.
Common side effects of ZEDOCEF 50MG may include:
Use only for bacterial infections; not effective for viral illness. Avoid if allergic to cefpodoxime/cephalosporins; caution with penicillin allergy. Dose adjustment may be needed in kidney disease. Prolonged use may cause superinfection; seek care for severe diarrhoea (possible C. difficile), severe rash, breathing difficulty, or facial swelling.
