Zicla 60 SR Tablet

Zicla M 60mg/500mg Tablet SR is a combination of gliclazide and metformin. Gliclazide stimulates the pancreas to release more insulin, which helps lower the amount of glucose in the blood after meals. At the same time, Metformin reduces the production of glucose in the liver and improves the body’s response to insulin, allowing glucose to be utilized more efficiently by the muscles and other tissues. Together, they help maintain stable blood sugar levels throughout the day.

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of Zicla M 60mg/500mg Tablet SR, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause severe and prolonged low blood sugar, which may lead to fits or unconsciousness. It can cause a dangerous build-up of acid in the blood, with vomiting, severe weakness and laboured breathing. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Many medicines change how strongly this works — tell your doctor about aspirin, blood thinners, antifungals, sulfa antibiotics and beta blockers in particular. Beta blockers can mask the warning signs of low blood sugar. Tell your doctor about water tablets, steroids, and any contrast dye scan. Alcohol increases the risk of the rare acid build-up and should be limited.

Store below 30°C in the original pack, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.

Monitor your blood sugar level regularly while you are taking this medicine. It can cause hypoglycemia (low blood sugar level) when used with other antidiabetic medicines, alcohol or if you delay or miss a meal. Inform your doctor about your diabetes treatment if you are due to have surgery under a general anesthetic. Tell your doctor immediately if you experience any deep or rapid breathing or if you have persistent nausea, vomiting, and stomach pain as Zicla M 60mg/500mg Tablet SR may cause a rare but serious condition called lactic acidosis, which is an excess of lactic acid in the blood. Your doctor may check your liver function regularly. Inform your doctor if you develop symptoms such as abdominal pain, loss of appetite, or yellowing of the eyes or skin (jaundice).
