Warnings and precautions

Prescription-only benzodiazepine; risk of dependence, tolerance, misuse and withdrawal—do not stop suddenly. Can cause sedation and impaired driving/operating machinery. Use caution in elderly, liver disease, respiratory disease (COPD/sleep apnoea), history of substance use disorder, depression/suicidal thoughts. Concomitant use with opioids or other CNS depressants can cause profound sedation, respiratory depression, coma or death.

Do not take Zolax if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for people with severe breathing problems, sleep apnoea, or severe liver disease. Not for anyone with a history of dependence, except under specialist supervision.

Interactions with other medicines

Alcohol and other CNS depressants (opioids, sedating antihistamines, antipsychotics) increase sedation/respiratory depression; CYP3A4 inhibitors (ketoconazole, itraconazole, clarithromycin/erythromycin, ritonavir, grapefruit juice) increase alprazolam levels; CYP3A4 inducers (rifampicin, carbamazepine, phenytoin) reduce effect; caution with antidepressants and other anxiolytics due to additive CNS effects.

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
