How Zonisep 100 works

Zonisamide is an antiepileptic medicine that helps reduce abnormal electrical activity in the brain. It blocks voltage-gated sodium channels and T-type calcium channels and may enhance inhibitory neurotransmission, thereby lowering seizure frequency.

How to take Zonisep 100

Take tablet/capsule exactly as prescribed by the doctor, usually once or twice daily. Can be taken with or without food; take at the same time each day and swallow whole with water. Do not stop suddenly; dose is usually titrated and tapered as advised.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of Zonisep 100 Capsule, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

If you take too much

Taking more Zonisep than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.

  • dizziness
  • drowsiness
  • headache
  • nausea
