Composition of Zucapride 5 Tablet

Zucapride 5 Tablet contains Mosapride citrate 5 mg. It belongs to the 5-HT4 receptor agonist (prokinetic) class of medicines.

How Zucapride 5 Tablet works

Mosapride is a prokinetic agent that selectively stimulates 5-HT4 receptors in the gastrointestinal tract, enhancing acetylcholine release. This increases gastric and intestinal motility and improves gastric emptying, helping relieve symptoms like bloating, nausea and reflux.

How to take Zucapride 5 Tablet

Take as directed by the physician. Common adult use is 5 mg tablet taken 2–3 times daily before meals; swallow whole with water. Use at the same time each day; do not exceed the prescribed dose.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take the missed dose of Zucapride as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and carry on with the usual schedule. Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed dose.

If you take too much

Taking more Zucapride than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.

Side effects of Zucapride 5 Tablet

Most side effects of Zucapride are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

• constipation

Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Warnings and precautions

Use with caution in patients with severe liver impairment, history of arrhythmias or electrolyte disturbances. Seek medical advice if you develop palpitations, fainting, severe diarrhea, or allergic reactions. Not recommended for self-medication for persistent GI symptoms; evaluate for obstruction or serious disease if symptoms persist.

Interactions with other medicines

QT-prolonging medicines (e.g., certain antiarrhythmics, antipsychotics, macrolides, fluoroquinolones), strong CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g., ketoconazole, itraconazole, clarithromycin, ritonavir), other prokinetics or drugs affecting GI motility, anticholinergics may reduce effect
