Monitoring blood oxygen saturation (SpO2) and pulse rate (heart rate) for home use; useful in respiratory illnesses (e.g., asthma, COPD), post-COVID monitoring, during fever/shortness of breath, and for fitness/high-altitude monitoring.

A fingertip pulse oximeter uses photoplethysmography: it emits red and infrared light through the finger and measures the light absorbed by oxygenated and deoxygenated hemoglobin. The device calculates SpO2 percentage and pulse rate from these absorption patterns and pulse wave signals.

Insert 2 AAA batteries (if required) as per manual. Place the device on a clean, warm finger (usually index or middle) with the nail facing up; keep the hand still at heart level. Wait for a stable reading (typically 10–30 seconds) and record SpO2 and pulse rate; remove after use. Not affected by food; avoid use with nail polish/false nails, cold fingers, excessive movement, or bright ambient light for best accuracy.

No common side effects when used as directed; possible mild finger discomfort/pressure, skin irritation in sensitive users

For screening/monitoring only and not a substitute for medical diagnosis; readings can be inaccurate with poor circulation, cold extremities, anemia, low blood pressure, tremors/movement, nail polish/artificial nails, dark pigmentation of nails, carbon monoxide poisoning, or strong ambient light. Seek medical care if SpO2 is persistently low or symptoms (breathlessness, chest pain, bluish lips) occur even with normal readings. Keep away from children; choking hazard if batteries are accessible. Do not use in MRI environments; keep device dry and clean.

No drug interactions; accuracy may be affected by external factors such as nail polish/henna, artificial nails, motion, low perfusion states, and carbon monoxide exposure

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture. Remove batteries if not used for a long period. Keep within typical room temperature conditions and avoid extreme heat/cold.
