Treatment of susceptible bacterial infections such as lower/upper respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, intra-abdominal infections, gynecological infections, bone and joint infections; used when parenteral therapy is required.
Amoxicillin is a beta-lactam antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis. Clavulanic acid inhibits beta-lactamase enzymes produced by resistant bacteria, thereby protecting amoxicillin and extending its antibacterial spectrum.
For intravenous use only, to be reconstituted and administered by a healthcare professional. Dose and frequency depend on infection severity, renal function and local guidelines; may be given with or without food (not applicable for IV). Complete the prescribed course.
Diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, rash, injection site pain/phlebitis, headache, candidiasis, elevated liver enzymes
Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to penicillins/cephalosporins or history of amoxicillin-clavulanate–associated jaundice/hepatic dysfunction. Use with caution in hepatic impairment, renal impairment (dose adjustment needed), infectious mononucleosis (higher rash risk). Monitor for severe allergic reactions, C. difficile–associated diarrhea, and liver function abnormalities. Not effective for viral infections.
Warfarin/acenocoumarol (increased INR/bleeding risk), methotrexate (reduced clearance/toxicity), probenecid (increases amoxicillin levels), allopurinol (increased rash risk), mycophenolate mofetil (reduced active metabolite exposure)
Store in a cool, dry place protected from light; generally below 25°C. Use reconstituted solution immediately or within the time specified on the label; do not freeze unless label permits.
