Betadine 5% Solution 500 ml contains Povidone Iodine (5% w/w).

Treatment and prevention of Wound infection

Betadine 5% Ointment is an antiseptic applied on skin, which is infected or is likely to get infected. It works by slowly releasing iodine, which kills or prevents the growth of infectious microorganisms.

This medicine is for external use only. Use it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Clean and dry the affected area and gently massage the ointment.

Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

For external use only. Keep away from the eyes and the inside of the mouth and nose unless the product is made for that purpose. Do not use a strong antiseptic repeatedly on an open wound — clean running water and soap around the edges are usually better, and harsh antiseptics slow healing. See a doctor for a deep or dirty wound, an animal bite, a wound that will not stop bleeding, or one that becomes red, swollen, warm or discharges. Check that your tetanus cover is current after any dirty or penetrating wound.

No significant interactions are expected.

Store below 30°C in the original pack, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.
