Povidone Iodine (2% w/v)

Sore throat, throat infection/irritation, mouth ulcers, gingivitis, oral infections; antiseptic gargle for oral and throat hygiene

Povidone iodine slowly releases free iodine, which kills bacteria, viruses and fungi by disrupting their proteins and cell membranes. This reduces microbial load in the mouth and throat and helps relieve infection-related symptoms.

For gargling only. Dilute as directed on label (commonly 1:1 with warm water) or use undiluted if advised by doctor. Gargle for 30 seconds to 1 minute and spit out; do not swallow. Use 2-4 times daily or as advised, preferably after meals and at bedtime.

Mild burning/irritation in mouth or throat, unpleasant taste, nausea if swallowed, dryness, mouth irritation, allergic reactions (rash, itching)

Do not swallow. Avoid use if allergic to iodine/povidone iodine. Use with caution in thyroid disorders, on lithium therapy, or with prolonged/frequent use (may affect thyroid function). Not recommended for regular long-term use unless prescribed. Stop and seek medical advice if severe irritation, swelling, breathing difficulty, or symptoms persist beyond a few days. Keep out of reach of children.

Lithium (increased risk of hypothyroidism), other iodine-containing products, hydrogen peroxide (may reduce antiseptic effect if used together), mercury-containing antiseptics (avoid concurrent use)

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place, protected from light. Keep cap tightly closed.
