Prevention and treatment of vitamin D deficiency in infants and children; supports bone mineralization and growth; adjunct in rickets/osteomalacia due to deficiency
Vitamin D3 is converted in the body to active metabolites that increase absorption of calcium and phosphate from the intestine. This helps maintain normal blood calcium levels and supports proper bone and teeth mineralization.
Oral drops. Use the calibrated dropper as directed by a pediatrician. Can be given directly into the mouth or mixed with a small amount of milk/food; do not mix with a full bottle to avoid under-dosing. Follow prescribed dose and duration.
Nausea, vomiting, constipation, abdominal pain, loss of appetite, headache, increased thirst, increased urination
Do not exceed recommended dose; overdose can cause hypercalcemia. Use with caution in kidney disease, kidney stones, hyperparathyroidism, sarcoidosis, or hypercalcemia/hypervitaminosis D. Seek medical advice if child has persistent vomiting, poor feeding, excessive thirst/urination, or lethargy. Keep out of reach of children.
Thiazide diuretics (increased risk of hypercalcemia), digoxin/cardiac glycosides (arrhythmia risk with hypercalcemia), anticonvulsants like phenytoin/phenobarbital (reduced vitamin D effect), rifampicin (reduced effect), cholestyramine/orlistat (reduced absorption), aluminum/magnesium antacids (use caution in renal impairment)
