Treatment of high cholesterol (hypercholesterolaemia) and mixed dyslipidaemia; reduction of elevated LDL-C and triglycerides; prevention of cardiovascular events (heart attack, stroke) in patients at risk as advised by doctor.

Rosuvastatin is a statin (HMG‑CoA reductase inhibitor) that reduces cholesterol production in the liver. It increases LDL receptor activity, lowering LDL (“bad”) cholesterol and total cholesterol, and modestly lowers triglycerides while slightly raising HDL.

Oral tablet: take once daily as prescribed, at the same time each day, with or without food. Swallow whole with water. Continue diet/exercise and do not stop without medical advice.

Headache, muscle pain, weakness, abdominal pain, nausea, constipation, dizziness, increased liver enzymes

Not recommended in active liver disease or unexplained persistent elevation of liver enzymes. Stop and seek medical advice if muscle pain/weakness with fever or dark urine occurs (risk of myopathy/rhabdomyolysis). Use with caution in kidney disease, hypothyroidism, elderly, heavy alcohol use, or history of muscle disorders. Periodic lipid profile and liver function tests may be advised.

Cyclosporine (contraindicated/avoid), gemfibrozil and other fibrates, niacin, protease inhibitors (e.g., ritonavir/atazanavir/lopinavir), warfarin (monitor INR), ezetimibe, colchicine, antacids containing aluminium/magnesium (separate dosing), erythromycin/clarithromycin (may increase side effects)

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from moisture and light. Keep out of reach of children.
