Used to lower high cholesterol (LDL) and triglycerides and to increase HDL; helps reduce risk of heart attack, stroke and other cardiovascular events in at-risk patients.

Rosuvastatin is a statin (HMG‑CoA reductase inhibitor). It reduces cholesterol production in the liver and increases clearance of LDL cholesterol from the blood, thereby lowering total and LDL cholesterol.

Take orally once daily at the same time each day, with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with water. Continue diet and exercise as advised; do not stop without consulting the doctor.

Headache, muscle pain, weakness, abdominal pain, nausea, constipation, dizziness, increased liver enzymes

Use with caution in liver disease, heavy alcohol use, hypothyroidism, kidney impairment, and in elderly patients due to higher risk of muscle problems. Seek medical help for unexplained muscle pain/weakness, fever, or dark urine (risk of myopathy/rhabdomyolysis). Periodic lipid profile and liver function tests may be advised. Not recommended in active liver disease.

Cyclosporine, gemfibrozil, other fibrates, niacin (high dose), protease inhibitors (e.g., ritonavir/atazanavir), warfarin (may increase INR), ezetimibe, colchicine, antacids containing aluminum/magnesium (reduce absorption if taken together)

Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
