Tablet
Treatment of high blood pressure (hypertension); helps reduce risk of cardiovascular events like stroke/heart attack in high-risk patients as advised by doctor.
Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB). It blocks the action of angiotensin II on AT1 receptors, causing blood vessels to relax and widen, which lowers blood pressure and reduces strain on the heart.
Take orally as prescribed, usually once daily, with or without food, at the same time each day. Swallow tablet with water; do not stop suddenly without medical advice.
dizziness, headache, fatigue, nausea, diarrhea, back pain, low blood pressure, increased potassium (hyperkalemia)
Not recommended in pregnancy (may harm unborn baby); avoid if allergic to telmisartan. Use with caution in kidney disease, liver disease, dehydration/low salt, or heart failure. Monitor blood pressure, kidney function and serum potassium; risk of hyperkalemia especially in elderly/renal impairment. Seek help if severe dizziness/fainting, swelling of face/lips, or reduced urine output occurs.
ACE inhibitors (e.g., enalapril, ramipril), aliskiren (especially in diabetes/renal impairment), potassium supplements/potassium-sparing diuretics (spironolactone, amiloride), NSAIDs (ibuprofen, diclofenac) may reduce effect and affect kidneys, lithium (increased lithium levels/toxicity), diuretics may increase risk of low BP.
Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from moisture and direct light. Keep out of reach of children.
