Monograph
Trumox CV 625 Forte Tablet is a prescription medicine containing Amoxicillin 500 mg + Clavulanic acid 125 mg (as potassium clavulanate) per tablet. Bacterial infections such as respiratory tract infections (sinusitis, tonsillitis, bronchitis, pneumonia), ear infections (otitis media), urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, dental infections, and other susceptible infections. It belongs to the group of medicines called Penicillin antibiotic + Beta-lactamase inhibitor.
Tablet to be taken orally as prescribed by the doctor. The dose and how long you take it depend on what you are being treated for and how you respond. Do not take more, or for longer, than your doctor has advised.
The side effects seen most often with Trumox CV 625 Forte Tablet are diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. Most are mild and settle as the body gets used to the medicine. Tell your doctor if one persists or worries you.
Before you start, tell your doctor about any liver, kidney or heart problem, whether you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding, and every other medicine you take, including supplements and ayurvedic preparations. Some of them can change how Trumox CV 625 Forte Tablet works.
Bacterial infections such as respiratory tract infections (sinusitis, tonsillitis, bronchitis, pneumonia), ear infections (otitis media), urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, dental infections, and other susceptible infections
Most side effects of Trumox CV are mild and settle as the body gets used to the medicine. The ones reported most often are:
Stop the medicine and get help at once for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.
Tablet to be taken orally as prescribed by the doctor. Usually taken with food (start of a meal) to reduce stomach upset; swallow whole with water. Take at evenly spaced intervals and complete the full course even if you feel better.
Amoxicillin is a penicillin antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to bacterial death. Clavulanic acid inhibits beta-lactamase enzymes produced by resistant bacteria, protecting amoxicillin and broadening its spectrum.
Prescription-only antibiotic; do not use for viral infections. Avoid if allergic to penicillins/cephalosporins or history of severe hypersensitivity. Use with caution in liver disease (may cause hepatitis/cholestatic jaundice), kidney impairment (dose adjustment may be needed), infectious mononucleosis (higher risk of rash). Seek medical help for severe diarrhoea (possible C. difficile), severe skin reactions, or signs of allergy (swelling, breathing difficulty).
Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.
An overdose of this medicine can cause vomiting, severe loose motions and, rarely, fits. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.
Warfarin/other anticoagulants (may increase bleeding risk/INR), methotrexate (increased toxicity risk), allopurinol (increased rash risk), probenecid (increases amoxicillin levels), mycophenolate mofetil (reduced active metabolite levels), live oral typhoid vaccine (reduced vaccine effect)
Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from moisture and light. Keep out of reach of children.
